A simplified street and topographic map by Kartografiia of Kyiv of the small historic city of Hlukhiv northwest of Sumy in north-central Ukraine, showing tourist highlights with diagrams of key sites and architectural monuments; a symbol legend identifying the main types of tourist sites and civic services is included. The historical Jewish presence in Hlukhiv is testified by the Jewish cemetery shown and labeled at the bottom of the map (the cemetery was damaged by a Russian attack in May 2022). Hlukhiv is famous for having served as the capital of the Cossack Hetmanate in the 18th century; this history is described in detail on the rear side of this brochure, and a second map on this page shows the historical region of Cossack influence, stretching from Hlukhiv and Baturyn in the north, to Fastiv and Bila Tserkva in the west, to Hadiach in the east, and down to Chyhyryn and Zaporizhzhia in the south. An inset shows Hlukhiv and its immediate surroundings; a memorial to victims of Fascism located south of the city includes monuments and signs commemorating Jewish victims.
