A series of color images and essays in Ukrainian and English describing the environment and history of the city of Storozhynets southwest of Chernivtsi in southwestern Ukraine. The historical section describes archaeological finds dating to about the 6th century, and then recorded mention of the city in the 15th century, after which all or part of it was bought and sold by various wealthy families including the Jewish Orenstein family in the 19th century. The Jewish community is mentioned as the second-largest ethnic group in 1900 (making up more than a third of the population), and in the context of the construction of the Great Synagogue in Storozhynets; individual Jewish shop owners are also named. Photographs of cultural sites include both the Jewish cemetery and the Jewish mass grave and Holocaust monument located at the cemetery. The front side of this brochure, by Kartografiia of Kyiv, shows a detailed street map of Storozhynets.
